Where the Wild Things Are Week!! Story Time w/Bean!

Where the Wild Things are by Maurice Sendak

Can you say, “YAY!”?  I can!  This is one of my all time favorite children’s books.  I read this to my kids soooo often.  My husband even had me paint them on his 20 year old, much loved leather motorcycle jacket!

Yep, I used to paint on motorcycles and leather, and this is what my hubby chose! If that doesn't prove he's a kid at heart, I don't know what will!

Today Abyni and Bean are going to read the story together, and then Paris and Bean are going to have a wild rumpus using their masks!

They are also going to use simple shakers that we made by filling empty water bottles up with a little bit of rice.  We made our masks using scrapbook paper, hot glue and yarn.  You can be creative and use whatever!

What are your favorite read alouds?  Do you do crazy things like we did with the WIld Rumpus?  That was always my favorite part!!

As I was watching, I realized why I love this so very much ~ I was never read to as a child … hard to believe I know, but very true. Being read to is so exciting, especially when Bean and Abyni do it together!

I don’t remember if my mom read to us often, but I LOVED it when she would “sing us” Hands Hands Fingers Thumb! I loved reading aloud so much to my kids… especially the long chapter books that I could use accents and different characters for! When “Bean” gets into a groove, I want to make videos of read alouds with chapter books (and just read them as myself), too, if I can get permission to record some of my favorites!

My 2 year old loves the book — she has most of it memorized and can “read along” with us!
