Friday Funnies: Dangerous Boys… and Dads? Explosions and All Those Things Your Mother Never Let You Do

4 May

My son Jaedin is a good kid. He’s 15, he is self motivated, ambitious and does his chores pretty much all of the time now without being asked. He’s my science geek, A.D.D. to the max (although it seems that we’ve either found ways to help him with it, or he’s learned to compensate, because its gotten remarkably better as he’s gotten older!) and really into Air Soft. He actually runs a business buying broken Air Soft guns, then fixes and resells them at a profit.

As with many boys, he has always been intrigued by how things work. He’s taken apart all of our old broken electronic equipment, researched any way to blow things up or make things more powerful. He’s like the boy version of Tim, the Tool Man Taylor on Home Improvement.

Anyway, as you may know, my daughter Paris has a youtube channel and it is doing REALLY well. She has even started making money from it. Now Jaedin wants to start a channel. He’s been trying to think of the best kind of channel and the other day he had a sudden epiphany.

Yeah, a real conversation at The Always House.

So, as you can see, he comes by it honestly.  Thankfully, my husband is very intelligent in the realm of techie things, so I’m trusting him to make sure that Jaedin doesn’t blow up the house!

Friday Funnies!!! Paris Thinks Bean is Real (we don’t use the word Muppet or Puppet!)

27 Apr

Yesterday we were trying to get the new camera set up to film, and Paris was sitting on the chair with Bean getting ready to film.  She was trying to fix Bean’s toes, when Bean piped up and says, “What are you doing?  Are you massaging my FEET?”

Paris and Bean counting all "16" of his toes!

Then they progressed to toe counting, and as anyone who has been around little kids knows, sometimes they can be very determined about being right, even when they’re not.  The adorable hilarity that ensued is a must see!  Watch Paris and Bean hilariously trying to learn to count his toes.

Do you have any silly family videos?  Please share… we LOVE to laugh!!

Family Funnies Part 2: Why it is So Hard to Win an Argument Here

24 Mar

So as I said last week, the sarcasm gene appears to run pretty deep in our family.  Its pretty hard for my poor hubby to win an argument in this house.

With me, its because I generally refuse to argue unless I know without a doubt that my way is right and I have proof at my fingertips (this isn’t 100% reliable, but its reliable enough that my hubby always brings drinks with mine in his right hand because I’m ‘always right’:)

With the kids… I think its more their sarcasm kicks in, especially Kainan’s.  He is the King Of Sarcasm.  See here:

A Typical Exchange

Thank goodness he also has a great sense of humor and can laugh at himself, because a few months ago he gave the kids a hard time about always teasing ME and never teasing him.  *Note:  This is a sentence you should never, ever, ever say to my kids, “Hey, why do you always give your mom a hard time?  Why don’t you ever make fun of me?”

Yeah… not a good idea to call the attention to yourself in this case.  The poor man gets made fun of all the time now.  Even Abyni, the sweet one who always takes our side had to add, “Daddy, WHY would you say that?  You NEVER say ‘Why don’t you make fun of me!!  Oh, dad.”  (Shaking her head here, as the eleven years of wisdom she has stored becomes apparent to her)

Next Weekend,

Stay Tuned for the “Your Mom” phrase that has been floating around our house for the past year.

Monday we’ll be back with new Bean videos for you!

Friday Funnies. My children are… strange.

Quoteable Conversations at the Always House

Okay, so I’ve decided to let you all in on another side of our family.  The snarky-sarcasm-is-our-love-language side.  It might take you a while to ‘get’ some of these if you don’t already know us, but know that even when teasing each other in sarcasm, we all know that we love each other and its all taken in stride.

My husband can be very funny.  VERY funny.  He is an amazing story teller, and can re-enact stories and have us all ROLLING on the floor with laughter.  His jokes, however, usually fall flat.  The dry sarcasm that happens as a result is often funny in and of itself and I’m so happy that I have a hubby who can laugh at himself:)

My husband the comedian

You’ll have to forgive my sad ‘paint’ skills.  If I can’t use a regular brush, I’m lost!

I hope you enjoyed… now its time to get back to Bean stuff and really get on the ball.   We’re working on an epic animation for a lullaby by a local musician that will blow you AWAY as well as typical songs, stories, crafts and fun!

See you next week, and as always let me know if there is something you’d like to see on the show.
