Stop Motion Animation: Hey Diddle Diddle w/Free Printable Coloring Pages for Kids

6 Nov

So here is the set up for our stop motion animation.  The lighting issue is far different than it is with shooting live shows with Bean, but thankfully, my husband rocks and sets it up for me.

Without further ado, here is our little stop motion short for Hey Diddle Diddle!

Here is the free printable coloring page, so that your child can make their own “Hey Diddle Diddle” picture!  coloring-page-diddle

Bean Plays Outside! Let’s Play Cars and Learn the Lava Game!

17 Oct

Next week we’ll be back to ‘studio’ shows, but today through Friday, we’ll be having more “outdoors” shows.  Next week I hope to kick off with a new song about imagination that is really catchy and fun… hopefully Sylvie and I can get together this weekend and film/record it!

The kids had fun drawing roads and scenery for their game

When my kids were younger, they loved playing games like “The Lava Game”.  The game where you pretend that different areas of the floor or a room are lava and you have to jump from spot to spot without touching the “lava”.  It has been interesting for me this week… going back through memories of the kids playing when they were little and all of the imaginary things they played.  Bean, Abyni & Jay show the kids how to play the “lava” game, and if they already play this game, I think it will be fun for them to see that Bean plays it, too!

Don’t let the grass touch you!

The video also has Bean, Paris, Abyni & Jay playing with sidewalk chalk and cars on the front walk.   My boys loved playing with trains rather than cars (although they did like cars, they were far more obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine:), and they loved drawing big long roads everywhere.  Including the time we moved to a rental house with light carpets… and they took their crayons and markers and drew roads all over their new bedroom.  *Sigh*  At least they were being creative, I guess?

Here is today’s video of Bean’s ‘Real Life’ playtime:  Playing with Cars and Playing the Lava Game!

Grandma Sue is Here! How to Shade with Paint to Make 3-D Objects! Kids, Let’s Paint a BALL!

6 Apr

My mom is here!!

Yay for Mommy Visits, even when you’re a grown up:)

I am very blessed to have a good relationship with my mom.  My kids are INCREDIBLY lucky to have such a great relationship with their Grandma.  She’s a kid at heart, much like me, and so the kids can always have fun with her.  She puts on a “Camp Grandma” every year and the kids all go up a week early to help prepare, and then stay during camp to participate and help.  She travels and paints as her occupation, so I thought that it would be perfect to have her teach Bean some basic painting skills.

Grandma Sue comes to teach Bean about painting!

Free Coloring Pages: Old MacDonald Had a Farm

21 Mar

Have your child draw a barn or a field or any kind of 'home' for the animals.

Hey guys!  Did your child(ren) enjoy the stop motion animation for “Old MacDonald Had a Farm”?  If so, they can now print out and color their own animals.  This is a good way for them to learn the different animals and the sounds they make.  You can have them practice cutting, or cut them out for them… and they can make their own barn/field for the animals to be in.  Use this as a fun activity or art project.  Children can glue the animals in their respective places (draw a pig pen for the pig, a fence for the cow… a nest for the bird, etc) or just leave them free as they sing along or act out different scenarios.

Its Art AND Game Time Today!

21 Feb

Today, Paris is going to stop by to show Bean a fun activity that she created.  She is doing illustrations for a children’s picture book that I wrote about Bean meeting a new friend (who will eventually be on the show as a new character someday, once we figure out the logistics of what we’re ALREADY doing!) and today she made a coloring page for me with the main character in the book… a silly monkey!  Today they’re going to color the picture and then use it to make a puzzle!  Feel free to print out a copy for your child to color and play along!

Paris' first coloring page!

Guys, we have had so many technical difficulties these last couple of weeks (Our camera that Patrick has fixed and refixed several times keeps quitting on us and then I knocked over some lights and broke them… it hasn’t been pretty!)  We are already working with low quality equipment and a non existent budget, so this is NOT acceptable!!) , and that being said, I am really proud of how this clip turned out!  It is a little longer than the 5 minutes I’m generally shooting for, because we combined two clips.  This is both “Art Fun” AND “Play Time” and I really feel like we did a really good job with the B Roll footage this time.

*ETA:  Finally got the link uploaded and watched it to see an unexpected “behind the scenes” clip that wasn’t supposed to be in there!  OOPS!!  I then spent far too long trying to fix it, but it SHOULD be okay now.  *Sigh*

What do you think?  Did you like it?  Am I getting better???  This editing thing is not my strong suit!  Learning new software is definitely not my strong suit!

If your child enjoyed coloring time with Bean, please send me a photo of their coloring project!  I’ll feature it on a future show and give them a shout out.  I love to include my fans on the show:)

Finished Front!

I hope you and your kids enjoy making this craft with Bean and Paris today!  The video is a little longer than the others, and there was a lot of editing to be done, but I think it turned out okay.  Let me know what you thing… our drawing for FREE Bean merchandise is TOMORROW, so be sure to subscribe and comment if you want a chance to win!

To make your own healthy cinnamon rolls (still a YUMMY treat!),

you can find the recipe on my food blog.

To make heart shapes, instead of rolling the dough up in a pinwheel shape like you would normally do, you just roll from the outside half way in, then from the otherside.  Pinch the bottoms slightly and set them somewhat close together to help hold the shape!

Rolling up the dough

YUM!
